INTEL: Beyond Red Veil Yu-Jing

With the arrival of Beyond Red Veil it is now possible along side the Operation Red Veil to have a 300 point army for £45-50 (price based on a half box share!).  So here’s my idea for a general starting list using the 10 miniature you will have from Yu-Jing.  For more specialist heavy missions you might want to change some of the profiles but this is a good starting place!

 

So whats a good way to play with this force?

Keep the Guilang Sniper as your holdback in deployment anyplace it on nice vantage point (either inside or outside your deployment zone) to act as your primary ARO piece.  You can even place that Zhanshi paramedic nearby to try and revive her.

Put the Dao Fei right upon the 24″ line with his Infiltration ready to take the fight to the enemy.  You may want to place the Ninja Killer Hacker in Hidden Deployment nearby to give him little backup as the Dao Fei is a Heavy Infantry (HI) and can be hacked.  Remember his spitfire is good at 8-24″ so try not to get too close.

Your big hitter it the Hsein HMG.  You can place him as an ARO piece but if you are going second you may want to keep him out of side and guarded by your Zuyong.  When it gets you your active turn – let him loose on the enemy.  With 2 Wounds, a BS of 14, a Burst 4 Damage 15 HMG and MSV 2 (To see through all levels of camoflague) he is a force to be reckoned with. Use him to take down enemy ARO pieces. He maybe ARM 4 but keep him in cover to get that additional +3 ARM.

Place the Zhanying Hacker nearby the Hsein to help protect him vs Hacking. He can also use Fairy Dust to help protect the Hsein and Zuyong from hacking and using Assisted Jump to bring the Tiger soldier in using Airborne Deployment Level 4: Combat Jump.  He also has D-Charges which can be used to see the Sabotage Classified Objective.

With the Tiger soldier patience is key.  You may decide to wait for turn 2 before bringing him in.  Use the Zhanying (Hacker) to run Assist Jump and he will be able to AD4: Combat Drop in on a 15!  Look for opportunities to drop in near troopers who are standing in a nice line for your Light Flame Thrower direct template weapon.

The Zuyong is a Elite Trooper with BS 13 and ARM 3.  His Combined Rifle is good for close range 0-16″ firefights – don’t try and engage targets beyond that, use the Hsein instead.  Remember he is Heavy Infantry so don’t get him too close to enemy hackers.  He can be a serious road block when placed in Suppression Fire.  Remember he is also a Forward Observe which gives him access to Flash Pulse which is good range up to 24″ and uses WP to attack (his is 13).  If it hits the enemy trooper makes a BTS save vs 13 or is Stunner and can’t attack for thereat of that turn!

You may think the Zhanshi Line Troopers are pointless – but they are great for guarding your flanks and rear vs infiltrators and Airborne Deployment troopers.  In your first turn spend 1 command token for a co-ordinated ordering place them in Suppression Fire state. One is also your LT some keep him safe.  You can of course change the list and make the Hsein or Zuyong the Lt with no change in points.  While this does make your Lieutenant order more useful it does run the risk of them dying and you going into Loss of Lieutenant! The paramedic can be useful but when you use this ability the trooper you are healing has to make a PH -3 roll to be revived.  This may be well worth the risk.  Remember your can also deliver the MedKit using a MedKit Pistol which is good range from 0-8″.

For missions requiring specialists you have the Zhanying Hacker, Zuyong (FO), Zhanshi Paramedic and the best specialist, the Ninja Killer Hacker who can start right next to objectives in Hidden Deployment using Infiltration and move right up to objectives and complete them using her Thermoptic Camoflague.
